COMPENSATION


Wages & OT

Non-exempt employees are paid a weekly salary plus overtime. Salaries for Trainee and Entry Level Firefighter 1 are:

Firefighter Trainee - Est. Weekly Salary: $681.75 - * Annual Pay: $ 35,451.00

Entry Level Firefighter 1 - Est. Weekly Salary: $ 846.49 - * Annual Pay: $ 44,017.78

(* Pay scale and hours worked are subject to change.)

All full time hourly employees are classified as salary non-exempt (salary plus overtime). Estimated annual pay is based on the salary and scheduled overtime for 24-hour shift schedule.

Pay is semi-monthly with pay dates on the 15th and last day of each month, paid through direct deposit.

Paid Time Off (PTO)

1 to 4 years 156 hours

5 to 9 years 192 hours

10 to 19 years 240 hours

20 to 29 years 264 hours

Holiday Leave

80 Hours a year.


TRADITIONAL BENEFITS


Employer FICA

Social Security tax assessed on an employer for all wages paid to employees and credited to each individual's Social Security account.

FUTA

Federal Unemployment tax assessed to employers for employment insurance coverage for qualifying separated employees.

Pension

To become eligible for enrollment into the pension plan an employee must complete one year of service with enrollment permitted the following January 1 or July 1. 15% of each employee’s estimated annual base-pay salary is contributed into the pension fund. One Hundred Percent vesting occurs after 5 years of employment.

401(K) Matching

To become eligible for enrollment into the 401(K) plan an employee must complete one year of service with enrollment permitted the following January 1 or July 1. 2% match will be contributed by RTFC to each participant. One Hundred Percent vesting in Company contribution occurs after 3 years of service.

State Unemployment

The Texas Employment Commission assesses a state (as opposed to Federal in the case of FUTA) unemployment tax on employers for unemployment insurance coverage for qualifying separated employees.

Life Insurance

Each full-time employee is provided basic life insurance.

AD&D

Each full-time employee is covered by an Accidental Death and Dismemberment policy.

Medical

RTFC carries medical insurance for each full-time employee, paid for by RTFC. The employee pays for optional dependent coverage.

Personal Accident

For each full time employee, RTFC carries Accident Expense Insurance Policy designed to help cover the expenses associated with an accidental injury.

Line of Duty Disability

A line-of-duty disability policy is also carried covering each full-time employee.

Long Term Disability

All full-time employees are covered by RTFC's Long Term Disability policy.

Worker’s Compensation

A state-regulated insurance program covering each employee for work-related injuries and illnesses.


NON TRADITIONAL BENEFITS


Tuition Reimbursement

After 1 full year of employment, Full-time employees who successfully complete course work deemed to have benefit to the performance of his/her position will be reimbursed for tuition and books directly related to this course work. ($1,000 maximum limit).

Professional Development

Certain staff employees are expected to attend seminars and workshops aimed at upgrading knowledge of a particular area of their job. When approved, these expenses are paid, in whole or in part, by RTFC.

Uniforms/Pagers

RTFC provides for uniform allowance, pager, and pager insurance.

Safety Items & Protective Clothing

Each firefighter is issued certain safety items and protective clothing for use in training and real situation duty.

Drug Screen

RTFC promotes a drug free workplace, which includes drug testing.

Physical Exams

Each firefighter is required to take an annual physical exam to determine and maintain fitness for the demands of a firefighter position.

Regulatory Compliance

Administration by the Fire Company of an immunization program that includes the vaccinations Hepatitis B (booster) and flu shots.

Training (In-Service)

All ERS firefighters are required to attend quarterly training provided by the RTFC Training Academy.
